Udeze gets work permit
Nigerian defender Ifeanyi Udeze
Udeze spent a trial period at The Hawthorns
Nigeria defender Ifeanyi Udeze has secured a work permit and could make his debut for West Brom at Leeds on Saturday.

Udeze has joined the Premiership's bottom club on loan from PAOK Salonika and will provide more competition for the club's other left-footed defenders Neil Clement and centre-half Phil Gilchrist.

Since last summer the West Brom manager Gary Megson has been trying to strengthen that defensive area, but was unable to conclude deals for Ipswich's Hermann Hreidarsson and Bruges player Peter van der Heyden.

"He's quick, good going forward and played at the last World Cup," said Gary Megson.

"We tried to bring in another left-sided player last year when we inquired about van der Heyden and Hreidarsson because we have no competition in that position at all.

"Udeze coming here will definitely change that and whoever is performing best will play."
