Walsall are taking legal advice after complaints from their supporters that they had received a commercial e-mail reputedly from Birmingham City.

The Saddlers have issued a statement after being contacted by angry fans.

It reads: "Walsall Football Club officials have been inundated with complaints from supporters.

The message continues on the club website: "Walsall wishes to emphasize that this e-mail has been sent without its permission or knowledge."

"Walsall FC have placed the matter into the hands of its legal advisors and are in consultation with the Data Information Commissioners Office."

The e-mail allegedly circulated by Birmingham City was promoting the conference and banqueting facilities at St Andrew's.
