Showunmi has 11 goals for Tranmere in all competitions this season
Tranmere Rovers striker Enoch Showunmi says his team-mates need to believe they can turn their season around.
Rovers are two points above the League One relegation zone after Tuesday's 4-0 defeat by Sheffield Wednesday.
"We've got a job to do and it's still down to us to go out and play as confidently as possible," Showunmi told BBC Radio Merseyside.
"We need to believe in our ability and the main thing for the players and the fans is that we have the belief."
Tranmere have won just one of their last 11 games games and the former Leeds United striker, 28, says it is up to the players to remain upbeat ahead of the trip to promotion-chasing Bournemouth on Saturday.
"It's a case of keeping positive and yes we've lost this game but we have to put it behind us," Showunmi continued.
"I've always said we've got a decent squad and a good bunch of lads. I think belief is the main thing all round.
"If we can go out into a game and have belief we can pick up results. It's all down to us and what we do, it's not about other teams.
"It's about how we approach our games and if we have that positive attitude we've shown, we're more than capable of competing with a lot of teams in this league."
