Huddersfield boosted their League One automatic promotion bid with a routine victory at Tranmere.
The Terriers went in front when Benik Afobe scrambled home after Kevin Kilbane's powerful effort came back off the post.
Rovers should have equalised when Enoch Showumni crossed for Adam McGurk, but he failed to connect.
Substitute Lee Novak wrapped up the win late on when he rounded home goalkeeper Tony Warner and stroked in.
Tranmere manager Les Parry told BBC Radio Merseyside: "Aaron Cresswell again has put in some great balls and we've got to get on the end of them.
"He put one over in the first half and Ash Taylor nearly put it in, and another from the right Joss Labadie and Enoch Showunmi nearly got there. But I keep on using the word 'nearly' and that isn't good enough.
"We've just got to pick ourselves up now and if we play like that on Tuesday, we'll get something from Sheffield Wednesday."
Huddersfield Town manager Lee Clark tells BBC Radio Leeds: "It's another game down, it's another three points. We know it's all about what we do, if we don't do our job properly it doesn't really matter what anyone else does.
"We've got a cup final every weekend now so we've just got to keep focused.
"The lads are making massive contributions the way they're playing and they are resolute."
