Tranmere's Zoumana Bakayogo says Rovers can avoid drop

Tranmere defender Zoumana Bakayogo believes the squad have the right attitude to survive in League One.

Following their 1-1 draw with Southend on Saturday, Rovers are just a point from safety, having been in the bottom four since the start of the season.

He told BBC Radio Merseyside: "I'm confident because our group is very compact and everybody is together.

"I know in myself we can survive this season. Every time we play, we try to give 100%," added the 23-year-old.

He added: "We worked very hard and we kept focused. Playing away from home can be quite difficult, but for us the result against Southend is a great result."

And Bakayogo says he would be open to staying at Prenton Park next season.

"I'm very happy here," said Bakayogo. "We will see at the end of the season if I will sign for Tranmere Rovers.

"But at the moment I will concentrate on this season and try to keep getting good results and try to get three points every week."

The France-born Ivorian who joined Rovers on a short-term contract in 2009 has previously had spells at Tranmere and Millwall.
