Barnett signed a one-year contract on his arrival at Prenton Park
Tranmere Rovers midfielder Charlie Barnett believes he is beginning to get to grips with life in League One.
The 20-year-old has made 20 appearances and scored one goal for Rovers since arriving on a free transfer from Liverpool last July.
He told BBC Radio Merseyside: "It's different as when I was at Liverpool you are protected a lot.
"But (here) you have to fight for your place and I'm starting to enjoy my football again."
Barnett believes he is learning from playing with experienced players, including Antony Kay.
"They've got the know-how, they might not have the legs they used to but they certainly have it in their heads. I'm looking to learn from them every day in training," he said.
Barnett scored his first goal for Ronnie Moore's men in last weeks 1-1 draw with Peterborough.
I'd be the first to say that I'd at least be looking at double figures but it hasn't come. Hopefully it (the goal against Peterborough) is the first of many

While he was happy to get off the mark, Barnett admits he is disappointed with his goal-scoring return so far this season.
"I'd be the first to say that I'd at least be looking at double figures but it hasn't come. Hopefully it (the goal against Peterborough) is the first of many," added Barnett.
Barnett, who signed a one-year contract on his arrival at Prenton Park, says he is open to the possibility of extending his stay on the Wirral.
"Hopefully, but to be honest I'm just focusing on staying in the team," said Barnett.
