Wayne Carlisle rejoins Torquay United

Midfielder Wayne Carlisle has agreed to rejoin League Two side Torquay United on a free transfer.

Carlisle became a free agent during the summer after failing to agree a new contract with the Gulls, because of concerns about a niggling injury.

The 30-year-old netted 10 goals in 61 league appearances for Torquay after signing from Exeter City in June 2008.

Carlisle has also had spells at Bristol Rovers, Leyton Orient, Swindon and Crystal Palace during his career.

Gulls boss Paul Buckle told the club website: ''Wayne has worked very hard over the last couple of months and is looking fit and sharp, we had a good, long chat about his future and it's great news that he has agreed to come back.

"A fit Wayne Carlisle is a big asset to this football club, he is very popular with the supporters and I'm sure that will be shown when he is back involved with the team.''

The club said that it was unlikely that he would play against Reading in the Carling Cup on Wednesday, but would travel to Lincoln City for the team's first away match of the season.
