Wayne Carlisle contract offer at Torquay expires

Wayne Carlisle
Carlisle started his career at Crystal Palace in 1997

Torquay United say that winger Wayne Carlisle is now a free agent after failing to agree a new contract.

The 30-year-old netted 10 goals in 61 league appearances for the Gulls after signing from Exeter City in June 2008.

Carlisle has also had spells at Bristol Rovers, Leyton Orient, Swindon and Crystal Palace during his career.

With fellow wide-man Mustapha Carayol moving on to Lincoln, Torquay have now lost their two first-choice wingers from last season.

Former Swindon player Lloyd Macklin, who moved to Plainmoor at the start of July, and Danny Stevens will now be the two most senior wingers at the club.
