Adams made 157 appearances for Plymouth Argyle between 1999-2005

Torquay United have sent midfielders Lee Hodges and Steve Adams out on loan to Southern Premier side Truro City.

Adams, 29, and Hodges, 36, have both signed three-month deals with the Cornish club.

Torquay boss Paul Buckle told BBC Radio Devon that the loan signings are part of a re-positioning of his squad.

"We're trying to move people out, to try and get people in, because we've got to start building otherwise it's going to be a long hard season."

Buckle added: "It's not going to be easy to bring players in, certainly better than what I've got, but we must start that building process now in my opinion."

Both Adams and Hodges will be unable to play in Truro's FA Cup replay against Mangotsfield United at Cossham Street on Tuesday evening.

Truro drew 1-1 with Mangotsfield United at Treyew Road in the third qualifying round on Saturday.
