Interest in Swindon kit surprises Jonathan Douglas
Douglas was voted player of the year at Swindon Town
Swindon midfielder Jonathan Douglas says he is surprised by the interest generated over their choice to wear white in the League One play-off final.
The Robins squad and manager Danny Wilson decided not to wear their red home kit against Millwall at Wembley, despite complaints from some fans.
Douglas told BBC Wiltshire: "At the end of the day it's only a jersey and if we win it, the jersey doesn't matter.
"To be honest I don't know what all the fuss is about really."
Some supporters have been speculating that the white strip was chosen for superstitious reasons but this has been denied by the club.
Wilson happy to play in white
But manager Danny Wilson has offered up another explanation for the choice.
"It's going to be a hot day and the team will need to keep their cool as much as they can," he said.
"I think white is what everybody would say will help us."
Swindon lost against Millwall on the last day of the season while wearing red and beat Arsenal in the League Cup final at Wembley in 1969 playing in white.
