Defence can save Swindon - Smith

Swindon goalkeeper Phil Smith believes that the Robins' recent defensive improvement will see them avoid relegation from League One.

Town have lost just once in their last five games, in which time Smith has kept three clean sheets.

He told BBC Wiltshire: "Apart from the 4-3 win at Northampton, we've been really tight at the back.

"If we can keep clean sheets, even for the last two home games, then that could see us safe."

Swindon currently lie 18th in League One, three points above the relegation zone.

And Smith is confident that the Wiltshire club can continue their good form and avoid the drop to League Two.

"I think we feel confident we can keep clean sheets, home or away," said Smith.

"We are defending well and defending as a unit."
