Form at Everton irrelevant to Sunderland - Henderson
Henderson has been an ever-present in the Premier League this season
Sunderland midfielder Jordan Henderson believes history will count for nothing at Everton on Saturday, despite a wait of more than 14 years for an away win.
Henderson, 20, was just six years old when a Craig Russell goal and a brace from Michael Bridges last earned the Black Cats a 3-1 win in November 1996.
"You can't go on the past and records," Henderson told BBC Newcastle.
"With the squad we've got and the character we've got we can go there and definitely get a good result."
Henderson added: "I've only played there once, we played well second half, but we've got some great players here now and we want to go on and kick on.
"We'll go to Everton in great confidence, they're a good team with good players but we're confident we can get a result."
The Wearsiders have lost just eight games this season, with five of those on their travels; a figure much improved on last season's 13 defeats in total.
"Away we've done a lot better than we did last season, though I still think we can be even better," Henderson continued.
"We're doing ok, and we cannot dwell on the last couple of results, we've got to push on."
Sunderland fan Henderson joined the club as an academy player and has since made 69 first-team appearances, scoring three goals.
