Paul Simpson appeals for Stockport County fans' support

Stockport County boss Paul Simpson has asked fans to continue supporting the club despite their continuing "issues".

After being both in administration and relegated last season County are yet to win a game in League Two.

Simpson told BBC Radio Manchester: "I think they understand there's issues that need sorting inside this club.

"Hopefully they'll stay with us as we can't afford to let the crowds dwindle regardless of the fact that we haven't done enough to keep them."

County's new owners - the 2015 Consortium - took over the club in June.

But Simpson said plenty of work was still needed behind the scenes to get the club back onto a stable footing.

"The football club needs changing around and there are a lot of things that need addressing," he added.

"The only way we're going to do that is by getting people through the turnstiles or by somebody coming in and backing the club financially to try and change the mentality in here."
