A brace from Mark Wright earned victory for Shrewsbury over former Town boss Paul Simpson's Stockport County.
Jake Robinson fired the visitors ahead from close range just before the break, but Matt Harrold capitalised on a Danny Swailes mistake to extend the lead.
Wright converted Robinson's miscued shot for his first and netted again after a brilliant solo run.
Simpson's side failed to threaten the Shrews defence, leaving County without a win in the league since February.
Stockport manager Paul Simpson told BBC Radio Manchester: "We caused ourselves problems. Some of the goals were just comical. Things you would expect to see in Sunday league football.
"The minute anything goes against us we crumble. There needs to be more characters in the team to be able to deal with knocks because we'll get lots of knocks over the year.
"I don't like losing football matches. It's about players not wanting to lose and having the desire to do what they can not to lose."
