Iain Jenkins joins St Mirren to assist Danny Lennon
Jenkins (r) is re-united with Lennon, with whom he worked at Cowdenbeath
Iain Jenkins has been named assistant manager to Danny Lennon at St Mirren.
Jenkins and Lennon led Cowdenbeath to Division One after their victory in the play-offs - the club's second promotion in a row.
English-born Jenkins, capped six times for Northern Ireland, was a full-back with Everton, Bradford City, Chester, Dundee United and Shrewsbury Town.
He managed junior sides Dundee North End and Tayport before joining Lennon at Central Park last summer.
Jenkins told the St Mirren website: "I was offered the manager's job at Cowdenbeath but I'm delighted to come here to St Mirren to join up with Danny again.
"I'm excited at the prospect of going out and giving the hours that me and Danny know that we can do.
"We know that coming here it isn't going to be an easy ticket or an easy ride, it will be a very difficult task.
"St Mirren are a good established Premiership outfit but we need to take that further by putting in some of our own ideas about the game and how it should be played."
