Millen was assistant to Gus MacPherson at St Mirren, who was sacked last month

St Mirren have parted company with assistant manager Andy Millen paving the way for new boss Danny Lennon to appoint his own backroom staff.

The Paisley club have reached agreement with Millen over his contract.

Buddies chairman Stewart Gilmour: "We'd like to thank Andy for everything he's done for the club and wish him all the best for the future.

However, BBC Scotland has learned that Lennon will bring in his former assistant at Cowdenbeath, Iain Jenkins.

Lennon has already told midfielder Stephen O'Donnell, forward Tom Brighton and defenders Jack Ross and Chris Innes that they will not be offered new contracts.

It is also expected that midfielder Andy Dorman will move on as Lennon reshapes the squad he inherited from Gus MacPherson.

Lennon told BBC Scotland that he hoped to speak to the Welsh international next week but admitted it would be difficult to compete with other interested clubs.

MacPherson was sacked as manager of St Mirren at the end of the season after spending seven years in charge of the Paisley club.

In his second full season in charge, MacPherson won the First Division title and secured promotion to the SPL.

The Buddies have since finished 11th, 10th, 11th and 10th in their four seasons in the 12-team top flight.

This season, St Mirren reached the final of the Co-operative Insurance Cup but lost out to a late goal from Rangers, despite their opponents having two players sent off.
