Southend United have signed Doncaster Rovers striker Waide Fairhurst on a month-long loan deal.
The 21-year-old has played 12 times for Rovers, scoring twice, and has featured for the Championship side on two occasions this season.
He told BBC Essex: "I asked the gaffer a couple of weeks ago if I could go out and get some games but Doncaster had injuries at the time.
"As long as Southend would like to keep me I would sign for longer no problem."
Fairhurst had a loan spell at Shrewsbury last season, scoring four goals in 10 League Two starts.
The front man joins the Shrimpers following injuries to strikers Blair Sturrock and Barry Corr.
"At the minute I'm a Southend employee and I'm looking forward to playing for Southend and doing what I can," he added.
"I'm eager to get some games, it's a good club to come to, I've had experience in this league before."
