Southend United boss Steve Tilson has revealed the club will not be competing in any reserve league next season.
The Shrimpers' second string side finished bottom of the Eastern Division of the Combination League during the 2009/2010 campaign.
"The main reason for pulling out next season is that you have to fulfil fixtures just for the sake of it," Tilson told the club's website.
"There were occasions when we were basically putting out a youth team."
The club now intends to arrange reserve fixtures as when they are required.
