Southend United assistant manager Paul Brush has been relieved of his duties, the club has confirmed.
Brush has been number two to manager Steve Tilson since 2003, but the club currently sit 22nd in League One after Saturday's 3-0 defeat at Hartlepool.
In a statement, chairman Ron Martin said the side needed "new energy, a fresh outlook" and "a positive approach to the on-field activities".
No replacement for former Blues defender Brush has been announced.
Martin thanked Brush for his contribution to the club over the past six seasons.
During his time with the Essex side, the former Leyton Orient boss helped the team to two promotions and two appearances in the LDV Vans Trophy final.
