Scott Spencer content with Southend United Bench role
Southend United striker Scott Spencer says he is happy to make an impact for the side from the substitutes bench.
The former Rochdale forward, who joined the Blues on a six month contract in January, is yet to start for the club but has scored twice as a substitute.
But the 21-year-old, who netted against Swindon on Saturday, said he trusted manager Steve Tilson's judgment.
"The gaffer is the gaffer for a reason, when he thinks I'm ready I'm sure I'll get a start," Spencer told BBC Essex.
"I'm grateful he keeps bringing me on, he gave me a half and it was nice to play up-front in a 4-4-2 formation."
He added: "I'm working hard, I'm speaking to players like Dougie [Freedman] everyday and working on my game.
"So hopefully I'll tidy myself up, get more time on the pitch and we'll see where we go."
