Scott Spencer and Pat Baldwin scored in the dying minutes to secure a draw for Southend against Swindon.
Ex-Southend striker Billy Paynter put Swindon ahead after 45 seconds with a low shot into the right-hand corner.
Charlie Austin hit Swindon's second in the 10th minute when he fired a deflected clearance into the net.
Spencer pulled one back in a goalmouth scramble late on and debutant Baldwin equalised in the 89th minute with a header from Damian Scannell's cross.
Southend United manager Steve Tilson told BBC Essex:
"Obviously we have got to be pleased with a point, after being 2-0 down. I thought the lads showed a lot of spirit to get back into the game.
"But you have to be pleased, with 10 minutes to go and to get back into it."
