Southend United striker Lee Barnard insists victory against Hartlepool was reward for a series of good displays.
The Blues ended a run of three straight defeats by beating Pools 3-2 in League One on Saturday, after trailing 2-0 at half-time.
Former Tottenham forward Barnard scored twice to bring his total to 16 goals in 24 appearances this season.
He told BBC Essex: "Although the results hadn't been going our way, I think our performances have been good."
Barnard did not score in the three defeats before Saturday's win that did not knock his self-belief.
"I'm confident if I get chances, I'll put them away" he added.
Meanwhile, Southend will trial Rochdale striker Scott Spencer and Barton Rovers defender during Tuesday's reserve match against Colchester.
