Tilson admits to play-off doubts

Steve Tilson
Tilson has seen his side win 11 of their last 14 games.

Southend manager Steve Tilson admits his side are unlikely to force their way into the League One play-offs.

The Shrimpers' 1-0 win at Huddersfield on Saturday moved them to within three points of sixth-placed Scunthorpe.

But with three of the four sides above them all having games in hand, Tilson conceded it was looking unlikely.

He told BBC Essex: "All we can do is win our games and rely on them having a bad run, but at the moment it doesn't look like any of them are going to."

"We've just to keep doing what we've been doing - we've done ever so well of late and that's all I can ask for," he said.

The Essex side have won 11 of their last 14 games, but have played two more games than their nearest rivals Scunthorpe and one more than both Leeds and MK Dons.
