Moussa joined the Shrimpers in January 2006 after leaving West Ham
Southend United's Franck Moussa is relieved to have scored his first goal in English football.
The 19-year-old scored the winner for the Shrimpers in their 1-0 defeat of Essex rivals Colchester on Saturday.
Moussa told BBC Essex: "It was pleasing to get it against them as they were the team I made my debut against, so they will always be a special team for me.
"It's been a long time coming and I'm happy to get it out of the way, and I can go on and do better things now."
Earlier this season, Moussa spent two months on loan at League Two Wycombe Wanderers and since his return has become a regular in the Southend starting line-up.
The young Belgian is certain his spell at Adams Park has proved beneficial his career.
"I was at a point where I needed to go and get some games and keep my fitness up," he explained.
"Now I'm feeling good, feeling very sharp and I'm just happy to be playing."
