Southend United goalkeeper Steve Mildenhall's ankle injury is not a break as first feared.
The 30-year-old severely sprained his ankle after a clash with Matt Done in Saturday's victory over Hereford.
Despite picking up the knock the summer signing played through the pain barrier for the last 20 minutes.
Manager Steve Tilson said: "To carry on in the pain he was in was a relief for me because its the first time I hadn't put a keeper on the bench."
Mildenhall is now set for a spell on the sidelines with Ian Joyce and Clark Masters vying for the goalkeeping jersey in his absence.
