Southend United goalkeeper Ian Joyce has been left out of the United States' Olympic Games football squad.

The 22-year-old, who joined the Blues from Watford on a free transfer, missed out on one of the two keeper berths.

Joyce was part of the senior US squad that played England at Wembley in May, but was beaten to selection by MLS players Brad Guzan and Chris Seitz.

Had Joyce had gone to Beijing, he would have been unavailable for the Roots Hall club for up to a month.
