Southampton have released defender Lee Molyneux a year before his contract was due to end.
The 21-year-old joined Saints in January 2009 and went on to make his debut in a 1-0 win away at Barnsley in the Championship.
But Molyneux struggled to establish himself at the St Mary's Stadium and only made a total of four appearances.
The Liverpool-born former Everton trainee ended last season on loan at League Two side Port Vale.
