Turner led Shrewsbury to promotion in his first spell at the club in 1979
Shrewsbury boss Graham Turner believes his side can catch League Two leaders Chesterfield and claim the title.
Town have climbed back into the automatic promotion places, following three consecutive wins, and are now seven points behind the Spireites.
"It's not cut and dried by any means," Turner told BBC Radio Shropshire.
"I think Chesterfield are waiting to do a Rochdale. They led for much of last season but then almost dipped out in the end and only just finished third."
Shrewsbury lie in third place having played two more games than the leaders and three more than second-placed Wycombe, who are two points ahead.
We want to get promoted and believe we can be promoted, and that's what all the lads are focused on

"Chesterfield are obviously doing very well but we've got to stay the course, dig in there, get the right results ourselves, and watch everybody else beating everybody else - which they're all capable of," added Turner.
Striker Lionel Ainsworth, who scored a hat-trick in Tuesday's 5-1 win at Lincoln, says the main aim is for Shrewsbury to win promotion but the squad believe they can finish in top spot.
"We're getting into our stride, the spirit's there, we can be champions," he said.
"We want to get promoted and believe we can be promoted, and that's what all the lads are focused on."
