Matt Sadler is desperate to score for Shrewsbury Town
Sadler cost Watford 750,000 from Birmingham
Defender Matt Sadler has pledged to break his league scoring duck to help Shrewsbury to earn promotion.
In his career at Birmingham, Watford, Stockport and now the Shrews, he has yet to hit a first-team goal.
"It's not for the want of trying," he told BBC Radio Shropshire. "They go in during training, but I just don't get many of those outside the box chances."
Sadler, who at 19 played in the Premier League for Birmingham, is on a six-month loan at Shrewsbury from Watford.
"I'm really enjoying my time at Shrewsbury, it's like a second career," he added.
"When I was captaining the England Under-16s and Under-17s, and then playing for Birmingham and then Watford, it all felt so good.
"Then things didn't work out at Watford, and I was in a bit of a wilderness, not playing games.
"But then I went on loan to Stockport - and now Shrewsbury, playing regularly in a side confident we can get promotion.
"It's given me a new start. I always knew I had the ability, and I've been able to show certain people they were wrong about me.
"I hold no grudges at Watford. I just want to show what I can do, and play at the highest level I can."
The 25-year-old played 20 games at Stockport last season, and is one of Shrewsbury manager Graham Turner's first picks this season - he has played in all 15 of Town's League Two games so far.
