The New Saints set cup record with 12-1 win over Bangor

The New Saints' record 12-1 aggregate win over Bangor could threaten the future of the Loosemoores Cup.

Bangor put out an inexperienced side in losing the semi-final first leg 9-0, and Saints rested a number of players in the second game, which they won 3-1.

The future of the competition will be discussed at a meeting of Welsh Premier League clubs amid suggestions that some have not taken it seriously.

Unlike the League or the Welsh Cup, it does not lead to a European place.

Youth striker Charlie Proctor, who was making his full debut for the team, was one of the Saints' second-leg scorers, cancelling out a Bangor opener from Alan Bull.

Scott Ruscoe put TNS in front from the penalty spot, with Jamie Wood sealing the result two minutes from time.

Saints, who are the Loosemoores Cup holders, will play Llanelli in the final after the south Wales side beat Aberystwyth 3-1 to secure a 4-1 aggregate win in the other semi.
