Shrewsbury Town sign defender David Raven

Raven made 21 appearances for Carlisle last season

Shrewsbury Town have signed former Carlisle United right-back David Raven on a one-year deal.

The former Liverpool and Tranmere man, 25, left Carlisle this summer after they did not offer him a new deal.

"He's a clever, right-sided player who gives me a lot of versatility at the back," boss Graham Turner told BBC Radio Shropshire.

"The jigsaw's beginning to take shape. We're talking to others and I expect to announce some more signings shortly."

Raven started his career at Liverpool, making four appearances, before playing 11 times during a loan spell at Tranmere.

He made 154 appearances in all for the Cumbrians between 2006 and 2010.
