Shrewsbury benefit from frank discussion - Steve Leslie
Steve Leslie made his Shrewsbury debut in April 2006
Shrewsbury midfielder Steve Leslie says a no-holds-barred meeting about the team's poor performances has helped the players rediscover their form.
Leslie revealed the squad were inspired to their away wins at Bradford and Chesterfield by the discussions.
"We knew things had been going wrong, so we got everything out in the open," he told BBC Radio Shropshire.
"We emphasised we need to stick together, for ourselves and the fans, and show what we can do."
Shrewsbury had previously slipped out of the League Two play-off places, and criticism from supporters was being directed at the players and at manager Paul Simpson.
"The meeting did us good," Leslie reflected, as the side won 3-1 at Bradford and 1-0 at Chesterfield over the Christmas-New Year period to leap up to fourth in the table.
Leslie also revealed that Kevin McIntyre is now the club's official penalty-taker. "I fancy it myself, but Kev's shown in training he can put a penalty away and has good stats on scoring," he added.
