Shrewsbury Town boss Paul Simpson has revealed he has taken on another trial player after releasing ex-Manchester United striker Ramon Calliste.
"I'm not going to say who the latest trialist is, but it's good to be able to take a look at out-of-contract players," he told BBC Radio Shropshire.
"Calliste was one. He trained with us for a couple of days, and while there's nothing now I might look at him again.
"You never know. By giving players a go, you might just unearth a gem."
Calliste was released by United in 2005 after failing to make an impact and was signed by Liverpool, but was subsequently let go at Anfield.
The striker was released by Scunthorpe in May 2007 after suffering a broken ankle and left Cambridge City this month.
"We can take a look at any player who doesn't have a club," Simpson said, suggesting that his 'have a go' policy in search of a bargain will continue.
