Gary Peters - it's tough being the boss |
Gary Peters admits Shrewsbury Town's recent poor run of one win in eight games has piled the pressure on him. "Everyone else has a chance to blame someone, " he told BBC Radio Shropshire. "Usually me, but also the team, the ref, the weather.
"I have to look at myself. I've brought the players here, trained them, selected them. It's down to me.
"I remain positive though, and keep myself sane by planning how to turn it round."
A haul of just four points from a barren eight-game run has made life more difficult, but the Shrewsbury boss remains positive ahead of Saturday's trip to Brentford.
It is a task made harder by the fact that Brentford are the most in-form team in League One under Andy Scott, having dragged themselves clear of trouble with 16 points from a possible 18.
Among the clubs they have gone past on the way are Shrewsbury, who they beat 1-0 at Oteley Road when the two teams met just a month ago.
But Peters remains confident in his own motivational abilties.
"It's a tough job and a lonely job being a football manager," he added," but I have to stay focussed and enthusiastic.
"I'm not sure who motivates the motivator, but after any defeat you'll always find me motivated and driving the ship on."
