Williams is expected to join Reading.

Scunthorpe United have cancelled the contract of Marcus Williams after the full-back turned down a new deal.

The 24-year-old, whose contract was due to expire in June, is expected to move south to join Reading.

Williams came through the ranks at Glanford Park and made 196 appearances for The Iron in all competitions.

Out-of-contract striker Paul Hayes, who scored 13 goals last season, is also on the move after agreeing to sign a three year deal at Preston North End.
