Hull City defender Anthony Gardner targets Championship
Anthony Gardner expects to be with Hull City next season
Hull City defender Anthony Gardner expects to be a Tigers player next season in the Championship.
The 28-year-old has one year left on his contract but accepts that events could change over the summer.
He told BBC Radio Humberside: "If anything else happens then it's not in my control but I'm a Hull City player now and I will be when we come back.
"I'm hoping I'll be here at the start of next season, looking to get us back in the Premier League."
Gardner made his £2.5 million move to the KC Stadium from Tottenham two years ago, ahead of the club's debut season in the top flight of English football, but his stay at the club has been blighted by injury.
The Tigers are now preparing for life in the Championship and the former England international said he was ready to be part of those plans.
"As with anyone, you want to play football at the highest level but the situation is that we're going to be in the Championship when I come back for pre-season, so I'll be getting my head geared up to come back to Hull City," he said.
