O'Connor (l) and Wright will add competition to Scunthorpe's midfield
Scunthorpe have signed midfielders Josh Wright and Michael O'Connor on two and three-year deals respectively.
Northern Ireland international O'Connor, 21, has joined from Crewe Alexandra in a deal believed to be worth up to £250,000.
O'Connor told BBC Radio Humberside: "It's a great move for me and when I looked around the club I liked it."
Meanwhile Wright, 19, has linked up with Nigel Adkins' side following his release by Charlton Athletic.
The England under-19 international had a loan spell at Gillingham last season.
Wright spent the final three months of last season at the Priestfield Stadium and helped the Gills win promotion to League One.
I enjoyed my time there but it was time to move on
Michael O'Connor on leaving Crewe
Charlton allowed Wright to leave as part of cost-cutting measures, following their relegation from the Championship.
Despite interest from Leeds United and Blackpool, he felt Scunthorpe were the right club for him to join.
"I've had a few clubs in for me and you need to weigh up your options, but in the end Scunthorpe won it by a mile," said Wright.
"When I met Nigel Adkins he said everything I wanted to hear, and that was really what helped me make my choice."
O'Connor started his career as a trainee with Crewe, before spending time on loan at Lincoln City after a much-publicised fall-out with Alex boss Gudjon Thordarson in February.
"I've been at Crewe for nine years now and I enjoyed my time there but it was time to move on," said O'Connor, who made 89 appearances for the Cheshire club.
