Zamora failed to find any consistent goal-scoring form last season
Hull City manager Phil Brown has confirmed the club have made a bid for Fulham striker Bobby Zamora .
Brown told the BBC Radio Humberside the Tigers are positioning themselves to land 28-year-old Zamora if Fulham decide he can leave Craven Cottage.
"Fulham are over in Australia and the hardest part is to sit down and talk to the player at the moment.
"If Bobby Zamora is leaving hopefully we'll be ahead of the queue where that's concerned," he added.
The Tigers boss said Zamora's move to the KC Stadium is dependant Fulham getting in the players that they want.
"My chairman assures me that Fulham have business to do and the two clubs are talking," Brown added.
He also revealed that the club have made bids for four players and are working hard to bring players in.
"There's an awful lot of work going on behind the scenes and it's just a case of keeping our powder dry, keeping our calm and hoping that one or two of these big boys we're talking to will eventually sign."
Brown refused to name any of his intended targets but indicated their were positive signs from the players.
"The people we are talking to are fairly positive that they want to join Hull City and it's just a matter of time.
"If we get the right people in the strike force, the defence and the midfield will be the stronger for it next season.
Hull have been frustrated in their quest to sign a striker this summer with Marc Antoine Fortune opting to join Celtic and Fraizer Campbell, who now looks likely to join Sunderland after stalling on a move to the KC Stadium, despite the club agreeing a fee with Manchester United early last month.
The Tigers have had a £6m bid accepted by United and have discussed personal terms with the 21-year-old.
However, he is currently on holiday until 16 July following his involvement in the European Under-21 Championship and Hull are not expecting a decision from the youngster until after that time.
Brown told BBC Radio Humberside he is now resigned to missing out on Campbell: "The deal just dragged on, we got empty promises that we'd sit round a table and then find he's gone on his holidays.
"That's one of the disappointments of football and we've been in this position a couple of times in the last two seasons," he added.
We're pitching it high this year rather than being content with staying in the division like last season.

Brown has subsequently turned his attention to Zamora, who scored twice for the Cottagers in 32 league games last season.
Chairman Paul Duffen told BBC Radio Humberside earlier in the week that Zamora, 28, is one of six strikers the club have been looking at.
"We have an understanding with Fulham but nothing will happen unless they get a striker in," said Duffen.
