Salisbury City striker Matt Tubbs has committed to a further two years at the Blue Square Premier club.

The 25-year-old, who joined the Whites in 2003, put pen to paper a day after scoring the opener in the FA Trophy third round win over Cambridge United.

City manager Tommy Widdrington said he was delighted to have the 21-goal striker on board until 2012.

"I feel he deserves a huge amount of credit for performing as he has this season," he said.

Tubbs' goals this term have helped make him the club's fifth most prolific scorer of all time, with 129 first-team strikes.

The former Bournemouth and Dorchester Town player said the Whites' new-found stability had been a factor in encouraging him to re-sign.

"The new board has come in and the club is in a better state financially so we can all start looking ahead," he said.

"The club has shown me great loyalty - a lot of players have come and gone in my time - but it's worked out well for me and I'm happy to show that loyalty back."
