Salisbury City general manager Nick Holmes believes rumours linking striker Matt Tubbs with a move to Crawley are "wild and unfounded".
The 25-year-old has scored 14 goals for the Whites this season.
"Matt's a proven goalscorer and because of that he's always going to be linked with other clubs. But there is absolutely no truth in the story.
"I'd suggest it's no coincidence that we're playing Crawley in a week's time," Holmes said.
"We've got one of, if not the smallest squad in the division. So why would we want to reduce it further?"
Holmes confirmed that their Blue Square Premier rivals had last week made an enquiry about Tubbs but had been told he was not leaving and that was the end of the matter.
The Salisbury boss was disappointed to then read quotes from Crawley manager Steve Evans in a local newspaper suggesting he would be making a move for the forward.
"These are just wild rumours. They're completely unfounded."
