Holmes' side had lost their seven previous matches
Salisbury City manager Nick Holmes hopes his side's Blue Square Premier win over Crawley signals the end of their recent poor run of results.
An own goal, and a strike from Sean Clohessy, secured the 2-0 home victory.
The success was Salisbury's first since 13 September and ended a run of seven straight defeats in the league and cup.
"We spread out and passed the ball a bit better than we've been doing. Let's hope it's a run in the other direction now," Holmes told BBC Radio Wiltshire.
The Whites took the lead early in the second half when Brian Dutton's cross was dropped into his own net by Crawley goalkeeper Simon Rayner, before on-loan full-back Clohessy's long range effort wrapped up the win with 15 minutes to go.
Holmes said: "They [the players] did it for the club, they did it for themselves, they did it for us [management], and I'm very pleased for them."
Rob Sinclair was named man of the match in his third start of the season following a knee injury and Holmes believes having the midfielder back is like having a new signing.
"I don't think he's completely match fit but he's fresh. He wants to play and he brought a zest to us we haven't had and that was good to see."
We've just got to be careful, don't get carried away by that one performance

Holmes was also impressed with Clohessy, who is on loan from Gillingham, as he scored his second goal in Salisbury colours.
"He certainly gives us a bright spirit down that right side. Right-back is his best position but because he's such a good all round footballer we've used him in different areas."
Salisbury are without a league game until they visit Mansfield in the middle of November, but travel to Bath City in the Setanta Shield before that and Holmes is hopeful his players are heading in the right direction again.
"We've just got to be careful, don't get carried away by that one performance. We've got to knuckle down, work hard and keep working at the shape."
