League Two promotion chasers Rochdale have signed Grimsby full-back Tom Newey on loan until the end of the season.
The 26-year-old left-back will swap a relegation scrap for Dale's push for automatic promotion to League One.
The former Leyton Orient player is in his fourth season at Blundell Park having joined the Mariners from Cambridge United in June 2005.
However, he has only played six times for Grimsby since November and was told he was no longer needed at the club.
