Grimsby Town have told League Two rivals Peterborough that full-back Tom Newey is not for sale. He is a target for Posh, along with Lincoln midfielder Lee Frecklington and Chelmsford City winger Ricky Holmes.
Newey, 24, is under contract until 2009 and Grimsby chairman John Fenty does not want him to leave.
Fenty told his club's website: "As far as we are concerned it's definitely 'hands off'. That is the message to anyone thinking about an approach."
