Rangers captain Barry Ferguson's fantastic form of late has earned him the accolade of Bank of Scotland Premier League player of the month for January.

Ferguson has been hotly tipped to win the player of the year award despite the fact that there are still two months of the season to go.

But the midfielder is Rangers' top scorer this term and his contribution to the club's title challenge has been immense.

Rangers played only two league games in the month of January, but Ferguson scored in both.

The first of those was the opening goal in the 3-1 home win over Dundee in the final game before the winter break.

He also broke the deadlock with a crucial - and superbly executed - goal in the 2-0 away win over Hibs at the end of the month.
