Advocaat makes Gers pledge
Advocaat is the part-time maanger of Holland
Dick Advocaat will remain at Ibrox for next season
Rangers director of football Dick Advocaat has vowed to see out his contract at the club despite being wanted as full-time Holland coach.

Advocaat, who handed over the reins to Alex McLeish last December, maintains he wants to continue his "upstairs" role at Ibrox after the double cup success of last season.

"Holland may want me full-time but that's not what was agreed with Rangers and it is not what I want either," Advocaat told the Scottish Daily Mail.

"I will definitely remain with Rangers for one more year because that is the system David Murray, Alex McLeish and myself set up last December.

"I happen to think that it is working well and it is nonsense to say I will leave Ibrox."

Uefa forum

Meanwhile, Rangers are likely to be part of the main body a new 11-team forum set up by Uefa to allow clubs the chance to voice their opinions on issues which affect them throughout the season.

The Ibrox club's secretary-director Campbell Ogilvie heads for Nyon in Switzerland on Tuesday for top-level talks aimed at forming the group.

Ogilvie is heavily involved in ensuring Rangers are represented amongst the continent's elite and will take part in a two-day workshop involving 60 other clubs at Uefa's headquarters.

Although there is already an assembly of top European clubs who meet regularly - the G14 group, to which Rangers have an ongoing application to join - this week's talks are aimed at forming an official body with which clubs can converse.

A Uefa spokesman was unable to confirm whether Rangers will definitely be involved in the final group but hinted they are amongst the frontrunners.

He said: "The clubs are likely to be selected in accordance with their co-efficiency ranking and while it is impossible to say who will feature I think there is a good chance Rangers will be involved.

"The forum will be set up to allow clubs the chance to discuss several subjects which directly affect them throughout the season."
