Redknapp is concerned at a lack of cover in his squad
Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has revealed his concern that his squad is not equipped for the new season.
Redknapp told the club's website: "We need another centre-half and we are short in wide positions.
"We haven't got a squad that I think can carry us through the season. With the Uefa Cup and the games coming up I still think we need three players.
"We are three decent players short of being a very decent team, of getting anywhere near what we did last year."
And Redknapp warned: "I'm not saying we're going to get them."
Portsmouth finished in eighth place in the Premier League and won the FA Cup last season - the latter saw them claim a Uefa Cup spot.
During the close season Pompey have brought in striker Peter Crouch from Liverpool for a club record fee of 9m, signed Ben Sahar on on loan from Chelsea and captured Glen Little from Reading.
But Redknapp is set to lose midfielder Sulley Muntari to Inter Milan and defender Noe Pamarot could be out of action for some time after he suffered a thigh injury in the defeat by Manchester United in the Nigerian capital of Abuja on Monday.
However, reports suggest Celestine Babayao may be on the verge of signing for Portsmouth.
The former Chelsea full-back has been training with Pompey as he recovers from Malaria and he played in Pompey's first match in Nigeria, a 5-0 win against Kano Pillars.
