Diarra joined Portsmouth from Arsenal for an undisclosed fee in January

Portsmouth midfielder Lassana Diarra is set to be left out of Sunday's Community Shield curtain-raiser against Manchester United at Wembley.

The French international was granted extra summer leave following Euro 2008, and only played his first pre-season game at Oxford on Tuesday.

Pompey coach Joe Jordan told BBC Radio Solent: "Lassana is a bit behind the rest in terms of general fitness.

"He needs to be ready for a week on Sunday, not necessarily Wembley."

Winger Niko Kranjcar also returned late to pre-season training following his involvement with Croatia at Euro 2008.
