Bournemouth midfielder Darren Anderton, a former Portsmouth FA Cup semi-finalist, says Pompey can go one better in the competition this season.
Harry Redknapp's side face West Bromwich Albion at Wembley on Saturday, for a place in the final on 17 May.
Anderton, 36, scored in Pompey's last appearance in a semi back in 1992, before they lost a replay to Liverpool.
"They've got the experience in the squad. I'm confident they'll make the final," he told BBC Radio Solent.
"As long as they play to the potential, I can't see it being a problem for them. It won't be easy, there's no doubt about that, but as long as they play it should take care of itself."
Anderton spent two years with Portsmouth between 1990 and 1992, before moving on to Tottenham for 1.75m, where he made over 300 appearances in a 12-year spell at White Hart Lane.
He won 30 England caps, scoring seven times.
Anderton is currently with League One strugglers Bournemouth, but has not featured since early November because of a back injury.
