![]() | Thursday, 15 March, 2001, 19:24 GMT Anderton to miss FA Cup semi ![]() Anderton's stay on the sidelines is extended Tottenham midfielder Darren Anderton will miss the FA Cup semi-final with Arsenal after suffering a setback in his battle against an Achilles problem. "Darren's injury has not progressed and he has had to go back into a plaster cast for a couple of weeks," said manager George Graham.
"He needs to rest it and we'll take it from there, but hopefully we'll still see him this season." The setback is a blow to Anderton, who is hopeful of signing an extension to his current contract at White Hart Lane. Graham wants to retain the England international's services and believes Anderton can overcome this latest blow. "I don't think it will have any bearing on his contract negotiations - we know Darren as a player and I have recommended we keep him here." However, a more serious concern for Graham is news that there is little funding available for new players next season. Graham said: "I have been told there is a limited budget. I cannot reveal how much is available, but I don't think there will be big outlays." | Other top Tottenham Hotspur stories: Links to top Tottenham Hotspur stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||
