Port Vale midfielder Sam Morsy signs two-year extension

Port Vale

Port Vale midfielder Sam Morsy has signed a two-year contract extension to keep him at the club until 2013.

The 19-year-old broke into the side under former Vale manager Jim Gannon and has played 12 games this season.

Morsy told BBC Radio Stoke: "It's great being with the first team - this is what I told Mark Grew I wanted."

Boss Grew added: "It can be a big step from the youth team to the first team but Sam has demonstrated that with hard work, that step can be made."

Morsy made his debut as a substitute in the 2-1 defeat by Torquay in August but did not feature again until January, when Vale lost out to Crewe Alexandra.

Caretaker manager Grew, who worked with Morsy at youth level, added: "He looks at ease with first-team football and as he's only 19 he has the potential to become an even better player."
